Popcorn – Low Fat

Enjoy this nutritious, low calorie snack!popcorn

Pop  1/2 c. popcorn in air popper. Yields 12 cups popped.  One serving is 2 cups.
Spray popcorn lightly with olive oil.  (Pour the oil into a reusable spray bottle.)
Mix in  1/4 c. or more Red Star nutritional yeast flakes, 1/2 tsp salt.  The yeast flakes add a kind of cheese flavor as well as protein and vitamins. Look for Red Star brand with B12.
1,1/2 T of these yeast flakes has 60 calories, 8 g. protein, 4 g. fiber, 7 g. carbs.

Air popped has about 31 calories per cup popped, 6.2 g. carbs.

Try adding one or two of these seasonings to the above recipe:   1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/4-1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp dill weed.
OR
2 T cinnamon or 1 tsp ginger.

Serve as a snack or with soup.
